If you run a device on the internet, it takes only seconds for automated bots to start rattling the door handles.
They scan for weak passwords, hunt for security holes, and clutter the connection lines. Most of this traffic is not humans typing away in dark rooms. It is automated bot networks running on rented servers, scanning millions of devices around the clock.
Here is what we did this week to keep VaultNode fast, clean, and secure.
Locking Down the Perimeter

Think of our firewall like the front gate to a private property. Instead of letting every stranger walk up to the front door, we simply shut the gate against bad neighborhoods and persistent trespassers.
- Foreign Address Filtering by Default: By default, our baseline perimeter drops foreign IP traffic. Legitimate community access is preserved, while the massive volume of international automated scanning is stopped dead at the border.
- Closing the US Hosting Loophole: Restricting overseas traffic alone is no longer enough. Foreign actors and overseas outfits routinely lease or purchase domestic US IP blocks and cheap virtual servers to disguise their origin. They launch their automated reconnaissance from inside the domestic perimeter, hoping to bypass standard geoblocking.
- 180+ Million Addresses Blocked: We expanded our perimeter defense to filter out over 180 million internet addresses tied to automated attack scripts, compromised nodes, and high-abuse commercial hosting providers.
- 80+ High-Risk Server and Big Tech Networks Restricted: Google, Microsoft, and rogue actors hiding behind disposable hosting providers. We identified the server networks repeatedly scanning or hosting malicious egress and blocked inbound traffic at the packet level.
- Instant Lockout for Intruders: Our automated sentry caught targeted login probes in real time and immediately slammed the door on the originating hosts.
What This Means for You
- Faster Speeds & Clean Performance: Because our nodes do not waste processor power answering millions of fake bot requests, server capacity goes straight to real users.
- True Defense in Depth: Stopping threats at the outer firewall boundary means core services and databases never even see the probes.
- Unbroken Reliability: No slowdowns caused by sudden automated scanning storms or background noise.
The perimeter is secure, the noise is shut out, and the platform is running smoothly. 🔒
